English: Post Medieval yellow metal or gold finger ring, There is no distinct bezel. The loop consists of two interlacing bands decorated with a stiff leaf foliage, probably acanthus, holding pellets in voids between the bands where the interlacing produces these. The pellets stand proud of the rest of the loop. The decoration is typical Rococo (post 1730s) but the twisted cable form appears earlier. No assay or makers marks reported and they would be unlikely to be worn away as the ring isn’t demonstrating much wear. Acanthus decoration was also popular in the early nineteenth century following the cessation of the Napoleonic Wars. Suggested dates c1730 to c1850 AD.

Diameter 19mm, width 3mm, band thickness 1.5mm, weight 1g.

Due to the style of decorative motifs and the absence of marks, this ring cannot be securely dated to pre c1730 AD and therefore falls outside the remit of the Treasure Act 1996.
